Scenic Strolls & Park Rambles

By Mountgrange Heritage July 2025

There’s something quietly restorative about spending time outdoors in West London during the summer months. Tree-lined streets, gentle canal waters and blooming mews houses provide just the right backdrop for a thoughtful stroll. Whether you’re heading out for a midday break or an easy weekend wander, these local routes offer a chance to take a deep breath and reconnect with your local surroundings.

Along the Water: Grand Union Canal → Little Venice

Distance: Approx. 1.5 miles
Start around Ladbroke Grove and follow the towpath westwards. You’ll pass houseboats adorned with flower boxes and witness still canal reflections. There are plenty of cafés and benches along the way for a quick pause.

A Slow Sunday: Holland Park → Kyoto Garden → Portland Road

Distance: Approx. 1–1.5 miles
Begin at the main entrance of Holland Park and walk through its lush gardens, shaded pathways and open lawns. Pause in the Kyoto Garden to see its meticulously designed landscape feels remarkably tranquil. Finish with a coffee from a nearby independent café on Portland Road and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere away from the bustle.

For the View: Regent’s Park → Primrose Hill

Distance: Approx. 2–3 miles (round-trip)
Wander through the manicured landscapes of Regent’s Park before making your way to Primrose Hill. From the summit, you’ll enjoy classic skyline views, especially beautiful at golden hour, perhaps with a chilled drink in hand.

Team Pick: Westbourne Grove → Paddington Basin Canal

Distance: Approx. 1–1.5 miles
Begin your walk along Westbourne Grove, browsing boutiques and cafés. Turn towards Paddington Basin for a scenic canal stretch. This route combines leafy streets with urban waterfront that feels tucked away and peaceful.

Market & Mews: Portobello Road → Golborne Road

Distance: Approx. 1 mile
Kick things off at the top of Portobello Road and walk toward Golborne Road. You’ll pass market stalls, petit cafés and pastel-hued shopfronts. Treat yourself to a pastry from Lisboa or a snack from a food stall.
