The best places for lunch in Notting Hill and Kensington

Members of the Mountgrange Heritage team recommend the best places for lunch in Notting Hill and Kensington.

Michael Wilson – Managing Director

“I’ve worked in the Kensington and Notting Hill area for more than 15 years and have had ample chance to sample the local culinary delights. As I’m based across all three of our offices, my lunch stop is often somewhere I can park up my scooter and grab something on the hop. I don’t get a huge amount of time to eat so my favourite places are those which offer a quick, delicious and nutritious meal to keep me on the move for the rest of the day without reaching for the biscuits at 4pm…!”

Ranoush Juice on High Street Kensington

“This has been my favourite for years and I pop in at least every few weeks. Fast but good food is difficult to find on the High Street but this place ticks all the boxes. Lebanese food is one of the best cuisines for healthy food; oozing in flavour, herbs and spices. I highly recommend the Shawarma to takeaway with a freshly squeezed orange juice.”

Street food on Golborne Road

“I love the street food stalls on Golborne Road. If you’re after a Moroccan feast, then this is the place. The falafels on offer are some of the best in London. You can get authentic street food from around the world here and it’s a real treat to sample the different delights on offer. If you haven’t tried any of these stalls, get down there soon!”

Piccolo Deli on Stratford Road

“This is a proper local Italian deli where all you can be guaranteed of a warm welcome. I’m always in here and the team know me well. If you like Italian food, you can get great takeaway Paninis and Ciabattas here as well as a range of pasta dishes. And as you’d expect, the coffee is brilliant!”

Liz Thomson – Head of Lettings

“I’ve worked in the Notting Hill area for more years than I care to remember and my favourite lunch places are those where you can take time out and enjoy wonderful food and a welcoming atmosphere.”

Assaggi on Chepstow Place

“This is my forever favourite. It serves simply stunning Italian food and the ambiance in the restaurant is seriously intimate but super understated. Assaggi is my go-to for any occasion and has been for years! It was Michael Winner’s favourite restaurant when he was still alive and still a bit of a hidden gem but VERY Notting Hill.”

The Grocer on Elgin on Elgin Crescent

“This is just around the corner from our Notting Hill office and is a firm favourite with the team there. The Grocer on Elgin sells chef-made, restaurant quality food to takeaway. As with other good restaurants, they are very careful about the ingredients they source and the food they prepare is free from the artificial additives and GMOs that you often find in packaged food. My favourite there are the curries and fresh salads.”

Lauren De Wet – Office Manager, North Kensington

Golborne Deli on Golborne Road

“I haven’t worked in the area very long but already have firm favourite. I love Golborne Deli on Golborne Road. It’s got such a lovely buzzy atmosphere and serves the BEST coffee in the area, which is their own special blend of beans. The food is very Mediterranean with lovely authentic Italian ingredients and if you need a sweet pick me up then the cakes are pretty good too!”

Judith Pons – Marketing Manager

Pizza East on Portobello Road

“We had our Christmas party in Pizza East last year and it was great, very different! It’s not all about Pizzas at Pizza East, although of course pizzas are the stars of the show. They also serve amazing anti-pasti and dishes cooked in the wood oven such as fresh fish, pork belly, chicken and lasagne. There is also a great range of Italian charcuterie and cheese on offer, perfect with a nice cold beer.”

San Pietro on Stratford Road

“San Pietro opened recently on Stratford Road, a few doors down from our office. They’ve made a big impression in a short period of time with some great reviews. It’s a lovely neighbourhood Italian with authentic ingredients and a great wine list. If you like fish, this is the perfect place for you as they have lots of fish and seafood dishes on offer.”
